1Buying the thali without checking what's actually included
A lot of listings show a beautiful thali photo but only ship the plate itself — no chalni, no lota, no pouch. You end up scrambling to arrange the rest separately, days before the puja. Always confirm the full piece count before you order.
2Choosing colour before checking your outfit
It's easy to fall for the most photogenic thali online and realise too late that it clashes with your saree or lehenga. Pick your outfit first, then match the thali's base cloth to it — not the other way around.
3Ignoring the chalni entirely
The chalni is the one piece you actually hold up during the moon-sighting — and it's often the first thing to be a mismatched, flimsy add-on. If it doesn't match the thali's fabric and trim, it shows in every photo from that evening.
4Ordering too close to the date
